What! Yes, I deleted my Facebook account and all of my other social media accounts including Instagram, WhatsApp, Twitter.

I’m currently working on de-Googling my life, my business and my phone which is very hard. My goal is to not rely on Google services like email, calendar, maps, etc. I’m making progress and I’ll be blogging about that soon.

Why?

I know that’s what your asking. I have many reasons which I’ll blog more about later. Let me ask you this. What has social media ever done for you?

I love technology and I’ve been on social media since it was available but times have changed and it’s my belief that we need to go back to the good old days of the Internet where we focused on building our own websites and controlling our own data.

Big Tech companies like Facebook have become Internet Ghettos where they want you to come give them your time, attention and data so they can sell it and get rich off of our data. Every second you spend on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or whatever is time you could be spending creating content for your website and giving your followers real value.

I Only Use Social Media For Marketing

I did that for a while too. The thing you don’t realize is that these social media sites are designed to suck you in and brainwash people. If you put your ads and content on these platforms you are contributing to the problem. I finally said NO MORE! You’re NOT using me anymore! I encourage you to start putting more effort into old school marketing methods and drive people to your own website.

Try A 30 Day Social Media Detox

I did a 30 day detox from social media. I removed all social media apps from my phone and guess what I didn’t miss it one bit. Sure it’s hard at first because they have trained you to check your feed every five minutes, but you will survive I promise. After my 30 day detox I made the decision to just deactivate my accounts completely. Do people miss me? I don’t know if they do they will find me on Google because I’m very findable and that’s how you want to become or not. Maybe you don’t want to be found online and that’s okay too. If you want to stay in touch with friends and family then call them on the phone or go see them IRL (in real life).

Create Your Own Website(s)

The time I would have wasted on social media I’ll be using more productively creating content for my own websites. Be sure to bookmark this website and check back if you want to see what I’m up to because you won’t see it on Facebook.
